Dharma Rajeswaran, COO at Proximar, expressed their thrill with the results achieved at the new facility. “The weekly development and steady growth are reassuring, proving our good growth conditions and fish welfare.”
From the inception of production at the end of last year, these characteristics have been synonymous with the condition of the fish. Proximar has consistently introduced new batches of eggs each month, resulting in the current milestone of eight full tanks in nursery department.
Thus, they are gradually getting closer to harvesting their first batch of Atlantic salmon in the third quarter of 2024.
“We are weighing the fish on a weekly basis, and see the performance steadily [in the first and subsequent batches] improving as we are fine-tuning and gaining the experience with the AquaMaof technology and equipment,” said Rajeswaran.
Civil works nearing completion
This part allows Proximar continues its stellar work. Construction work on the feedlot building (PSG) is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 2023, while the grow out department will be ready to receive the first batch. This achievement will represent a significant milestone for the company.
“I am also very glad that the construction works are in the final stage. Then we can focus even more on production” said Joachim Nielsen, the CEO.
In June, the team completed the installation of the production tanks, and they finished the concrete floors in July. The electrical installations inside the building are underway, along with the installation of the biomedia for the sedimentation tanks and biofilter by AquaMaof.
Nielsen further explained that not only on the facilities side were they making progress, but also in terms of personnel. “We have a very promising production team and it is encouraging to see how dedicated everyone is. We are still in the process of recruiting new colleagues and continue to add highly qualified people to our team.”
